Our story
Founded in a crisis, built for the long term
WENET was founded in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, by Joseph Okino — a Ugandan teacher who watched schools close and an entire generation risk being left behind. Rather than wait, he built an organisation around one conviction: opportunities transform lives; dependency does not.
Today WENET works across two regions and six districts — from Jinja City in the east to Lira City in the north — partnering with 18 schools, 1,680 farmers and thousands of young people, anchored in the UN SDGs 2030, AU Agenda 2063 and Uganda Vision 2040.
